The Benchmark Scientific BV1000 BenchMixer Vortex Mixer provides gentle shaking to rapid vortexing of samples, including full 50mL tubes, at a variable speed of 200 to 3,200rpm, and can be operated by touch or in continuous mode. This mixer comes with a rubber cup head to mix single tubes, and can be fitted with a 3" flat head (sold separately) to mix multiple tubes, or an optional combination head (sold separately) to hold up to 60 small tubes or a microplate. A Q-Drive counter-balance system maximizes vortexing and minimizes noise and vibration. The mixer can be used in cold rooms or incubators, has spill-proof electronic controls, and has suction feet to prevent walking. Vortex shakers are commonly used in laboratories to mix liquids. Specifications Speed range 200 to 3,200rpm Mixing capacity Cup head Orbit 3mm Operating temperature 4 to 65 degrees C Electrical rating 115V, 60Hz Dimensions 17 x 13 x 16cm/6.7 x 5 x 6.3 inches (H x W x D) Weight 3.8kg (8.4 lb.) H is height, the vertical distance from the lowest to highest point; W is width, the horizontal distance from left to right; D is depth, the horizontal distance from front to back. Vortex shakers mix small amounts of liquid in laboratory containers for biochemical, microbiological, and other applications. A vortex shaker can be analog or digital and is commonly an automated, electrically powered, benchtop unit with a base that holds a rubber cup or a platform that spins off center. The user places a test tube, beaker, or other small vessel of liquid onto the spinning cup or platform, creating a vortex to mix the liquid. Some models can hold multiple containers, often by an accessory attached to the base. Additional features may include fixed or variable speeds, touch or hands-free operation, and various voltages. Benchmark Scientific manufactures sterilization and temperature control equipment, centrifuges and mixers, and other laboratory products. The company, founded in 2008, is headquartered in South Plainfield, NJ.
